‘Real Housewives’ Ramona No Showbiz Mom

Real Housewives of New York City star Ramona Singer is no showbiz mom. Her 13-year-old daughter, Avery, was inspired by Dakota Fanning three years ago.
“She was like ‘mom, I’m as good as her. Why am I not on TV? Get me on TV. Find me an agent.’ So I signed her up with Wilhelmina, and then my mom got tragically ill with cancer. They only gave her three months to live, and miraculously she actually lived for three years. But I couldn’t take her on go-sees.”
She continues, “I never really told her the truth, so she’d sit by the phone waiting. First, the phone was ringing all the time. ‘Go here, go here, go do this, go do that.’ Then all of a sudden it stopped. She said ‘mom, how come they’re not calling me?’ I didn’t want to tell her I stopped it. Maybe I should have. Her face was crestfallen.”
Now that Ramona is recovering from the grief of her mother’s death last year, she is open to Avery pursuing opportunities.

“I thought maybe it’s a great time to pursue it again. But she’s really into school now. She wants all A’s. She got all A’s last year. I don’t know what she’s going to get this year, but it doesn’t matter because she’s a great student. She’ll achieve whatever she wants to in life. Whatever she wants.”
“As she says ‘mommy, you brainwashed me not to want it,’ but if an opportunity came up for her, she would do it.”
