Red Carpet Confidential: ‘90210’ Star Matt Lanter Likes Spooky Dates
Sept. 9 2009, Published 1:00 p.m. ET
Matt Lanter is back in action playing 90210 bad boy Liam, but it’s not all pretend.
“I suppose I can be a bad boy in real life,” he admits. “Everyone has their moments, right?”
One of those moments includes taking his dates to Hollywood Forever cemetery for the weekly movie night.
“They play an old-school movie, and you can go out there with drinks or food, throw your stuff down and basically chill for the night,” the Georgia-raised actor, 26, whose movie Sorority Row opens this weekend, tells me.
“They show Hitchcock movies, and old, off-the-wall movies. They’ll show Pee-wee Herman out there, which is funny because so many people showed up for Pee-wee Herman.”
Hm, is it scary?
“It can be. I guess if you think the old Hitchcock movies are scary, plus you’re in a cemetery. But keep in mind you’re surrounded by 500-1,000 people. It’s more fun than anything.”
Matt is proud to work with his 90210 role model Jason Priestley.

“He directed one of our episodes. I talked to him for a little bit. He’s a cool guy. For being such an iconic actor with 90210, he was so completely down-to-earth, which was great. He was totally into what he was doing and seemed passionate about it. He had great stories. It was fun to talk to him about where they used to shoot. They used to shoot in an old, abandoned warehouse in Van Nuys, and I was asking him if they were like royalty at the network ten years ago, and he was like ‘no, we actually shot at a warehouse in Van Nuys.’ It was fun hearing about that stuff.”
Matt plays coy about his girlfriend.
“I’m crushing on all the girls on 90210,” he laughs.
Catch Matt in 90210 every week and in the movie Sorority Row, in theaters this weekend. And, pick up the OK! with the cover line “Rob & Kristen: Engaged!” for a Man Candy on Matt.
