Leave it to Tori Spelling to get creative with her pregnancy.
The Craft Wars host, 39, is putting her skills to good use by designing her own hospital gear in anticipation of her fourth child, due in September, with hubby Dean McDermott.
“I am making my own hospital gown,” she tells me with a laugh Tuesday during the Lunchables “Never Be Bored Again” launch to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Burbank, Calif.
“The kids help me with that. We picked out fabric, and I pinned it and stitched it. I’m having it sewn up.”

Not only are Liam, 5, Stella, 4, and Hattie, 10 months, creating a unique frock for their actress/author/reality star mom, but they’re also adding their own special touches in other ways.
“I’ve been doing a lot of stuff with the kids because, with a fourth baby, I still want to make sure they feel completely involved,” she says. “They’ve been helping with the nursery, and getting the nursery ready. They went and picked out outfits for the baby so we could have her hospital bag prepared for when baby comes. We don’t know if it’s a boy or girl, so I’m picked out a girl’s outfit and a boy’s outfit.”
But that’s not all. They also helped decorate her burgeoning belly!
“The craft I did with my baby bump was my way of involving the kids. I try every day when they say ‘your baby,’ I always tell them it’s ‘our baby.’ Since they’re so used to crafting and painting, they love finger-painting. That was my way of involving them with the belly bump, like ‘put your mark on the baby,’ and put your hands around me like you’re holding the baby. They were really into that.”
Another third-trimester tradition? The photo session.
“With every baby, we do belly shots. My friend is a photographer, and we do these amazing photos of my baby bump. That’s always a tradition in our family, and we do it with the kids.”

Still, when baby #4 is ready to arrive, Tori knows to expect the unexpected.
“Each one is so different. You can plan as much as you want, and when it happens on the day, it happens the way it’s going to happen. I don’t really prepare too much at this point. We just go with the flow.”

For Tori, who also had a delivery surprise for baby #3, Hattie, waiting to find out the gender is old hat.
“They’re used to it. They both want a boy, so we’ll see.”
Any thoughts on names?
“We have a boy’s name picked out when we had Hattie, but we don’t have a girl’s name yet. The kids had a few superhero names, and that was it. Then, they lost interest.”

Of course, getting the baby gear together takes careful consideration.
“Well, it’s difficult because you don’t want to buy excessive anything because then you have it,” she says. “Luckily, I have two friends that are pregnant right now with girls, so if I have a boy, I can give them the girls’ stuff. If I have a boy, I don’t know what I’ll do with the girls’ stuff. laughs Basically, I just buy the necessities, and then I figure we can always get stuff later.”
She adds, “The nursery does have some yellow in it.”

Until baby #4 is born, Tori is fully focused on being a hands-on mom to Liam, Stella and Hattie.
“We’ve got to keep it interesting,” she says. “I never want to be that parent who sticks my kid in front of the TV because I have work to do. I work from home a lot, so I really try to get them involved in everything I’m doing.”
She continues, “We do a lot of crafting, so crafting is our big thing in our household. We do that on an almost-daily basis. It gets the kids involved, it gets them to be creative, they’re doing art projects. It gets them outside during the summer. During the summer, we do crafts outside, so it’s great.”
Recently, they’ve gotten into the fall spirit.
“Right now we’re actually in the middle of working on a back-to-school craft. We’re using chalkboard paint, and we’re chalkboard painting lunchboxes and shoes, so that they can write on their shoes, and then they can write on their lunchboxes. On their lunchboxes, they can write what they have for food every day, because Liam is starting kindergarten, which is very exciting.”
Baby #4 is lucky to join such a happy family.
