REPORT: Pres. & Mrs. Obama Not Invited to Royal Wedding Over Security Costs
Jan. 27 2011, Published 1:16 p.m. ET
Reportedly, the White House did not receive a "Save the Date" fax from Queen Elizabeth for the royal wedding between her grandson Prince William and his fiancée Kate Middleton. So why wouldn't President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama be invited to the affair, packed with world leaders?
"I would assume that the cost of the Obama security would be unbelievably high and the bill would be sent to the royal family," royal expert Roy Sheppard told Radar Online.

The wedding on April 29 may not be the kind of occasion that would justify the cost of the President and his massive security detail.
"It's a private event even though hundreds of millions of people will watch it, and the royals — and British taxpayers — would have to pay for the protection of the President while at the wedding," Sheppard added.
