Movies take a backseat to fatherhood for Richard Gere, 58, who raises son Homer, 7, with his wife of nearly five years, Carey Lowell, 46.
“When you have kids, you don’t see movies much,” The Hunting Party star tells me. “If you had the time and space in your life to see a movie, you’d probably rather spend it with your wife doing something else. I see all the kids’ movies. That’s required. I liked the Toy Story movies and The Incredibles.”

He recently took Homer to Cooperstown, N.Y., to visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
“My son is going into baseball, and down in the basement, there was one of those gloves — it was Lou Gehrig’s — and it reminded me of the glove I had as a kid. His was in 1920-something, and mine was a 1950-something. I wish I had the baseball glove I had as a child. It was one of those very inelegant, fat gloves where all the fingers were fat and it didn't have modern webbing.”
