Russell Brand Shares His Thoughts on Dating and Why It's Important to Have Compatibility

It's been nine months since Russell Brand and Katy Perry ended their short marriage, and the British comedian is talking about what could be the reason behind the split to Australia’s 60 Minutes.

The 37-year-old sat down with the news magazine show recently and candidly discussed relationships.

"Sometimes it goes well, sometimes it don’t, but if you sort of sense there’s an incompatibility, then in any relationship regardless of the status of the individual, it kind of is best to go separate ways."

Russell, who has been rather open about his wild lifestyle and past sex, drug and alcohol addictions, shared his thoughts on dating when asked if someone had to have the same philosophies as him in order for him to be in a relationship.

"I don't know really, because I sort of find so many different people interesting. I think if you’re someone who’s really into mountain biking, it would be good to go out with someone else who’s into mountain biking, and if you’re really into Eastern mysticism, go out with someone else who into Eastern mysticism"

He went on to say, "I think if you’re a devoted tennis professional and you get married to a crystal meth addict, you might have trouble… I’ve been in a lot of trouble."

In the meantime, Katy has moved on from the 14 month marriage with rocker John Mayer who have had an on and off again relationship for the past few months. "I still believe in love, most definitely," she said. "I'm just going to let that take the lead."
