Russell Brand Will Host 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Looks like Russell Brand has a pretty sweet gig lined up next month and it's none other than the 2012 MTV Movie Awards!

MTV made the big announcement the former Mr. Katy Perry will host the live show to celebrate the year's biggest movies. The irreverent comedian said, "This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than The Avengers and you won't have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out."

The star of Rock of Ages is thought of highly by Jesse Ignjatovic, the show's executive producer. He told MTV News it was a no brainer to sign up Russell for one of the biggest nights of the year for the network. "First of all, I think Russell's the perfect host for this show. He's a movie star. He's probably one of the most brilliant stand-ups that I've seen in this time, and he's a rock star."
