The whirlwind Amtrak courtship between Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively — he's in Boston shooting the supernatural thriller R.I.P.D., and she's in NYC doing Gossip Girl — continues heating up the tracks from the Big Apple to Beantown.

In recent weeks the Green Lantern co-stars have popped PDA all over Boston — at restaurants, in South Station, walking their dogs. Last week they took their act to Manhattan, celebrating Ryan's 35th birthday Oct. 20 (three days early) with a group of friends at the Carriage House of the pricey Palma restaurant.

Making things interesting: 1) Palma is a favorite of Ryan's ex-wife Scarlett Johansson, and 2) Sandra Bullock — Ryan's most recent ex and longtime pal — was on hand for the party.

"They all chatted awkwardly," a source at the scene tells OK!. "Things got better later because everyone was drinking."

Blake sat beside the birthday boy at the table of 12, Sandra one seat down.

While Blake certainly doesn't lack for star power, the eyewitness notes, "Sandra owned the room; she just had better presence." Apparently, she was also more generous: "While the rest of the table left the standard 20 percent tip," the eyewitness adds, "Sandra dropped $400."
