Ryan Reynolds has managed to avoid discussing his divorce from Scarlett Johansson while making the media rounds for The Change-Up — until today.

Ryan co-star Jason Bateman paid him a compliment while bringing up the sensitive topic on The View.

Luckily, Barbara Walters was there to comfort him!

It all started when the guys were asked if they learned anything new about each other while working on their first film together, even though they've been friends for 15 years.

"This guy, if you read the papers, he went through some tough stuff," Jason explained (via Radar Online). "Not once did anybody have any sniff that anything was wrong."

"It’s because I’m dead inside," Ryan joked.

What was the tough stuff?

"He went through a divorce while we were shooting," Jason said, stating the obvious answer.

Ryan got a little quiet at that moment until he looked over at Barbara and said, "I'm not going to cry around you, Barbara."

"Don't even. Don't even," Ryan added while Barbara began to give him a hug. "Okay, here it comes."
