Sarah Jessica Parker may have played one of the most iconic female TV roles of all time — the Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City — but the actress never wanted any of the fallout of being famous. She reveals in the September issue of Marie Claire that she never even wanted to be famous and has learned to manage her celebrity status.

"I never wanted to be a celebrity," SJP shares in the September issue of Marie Claire. "I never wanted to be famous. And in my daily life, I work really hard to not trade on it in any way. I am so desperately worried about anybody saying, 'She cut in line,' or 'She took our table,' or She got out of jury duty,' or 'She doesn't do her own grocery shopping.' "

The mom of three adds, "The things that bother me are counter to who I am and the way I live. It's not like it's hard to be decent and respectful and well-behaved. I do wait in line, and I do take the subway, and I do do my own grocery shopping, and I do take the kids to school."

So how does she help keep herself grounded and out of the limelight? By keeping this simple with hubby Matthew Broderick.

But don't expect the couple to divulge about their marriage.

"We don't talk about our marriage a lot, which is probably wise," she admits. "There are so many other things in our lives that take precedence over the splitting of the atom of our marriage."

SJP is gearing up to promote her latest blockbuster, I Don't Know How She Does It, where she plays a busy career woman trying to balance her family.

Marie Claire hits newsstands Aug. 16. For more of SJP's interview, visit HERE.
