Since leaving American Idol, Simon Cowell told Jay Leno says he's happy the show is continuing to do well. However, he did have one joke to share about new judge Steven Tyler!

On The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Simon said shared his thoughts on American Idol's success since he left.
“I’m thrilled," he said. "You always want to leave a show, and it does better, right?”
But actually he says its not really doing better without without him.
"No, I think it’s about the same," he explained. "I’m like that with my friends: do well, just don’t do that well.”

“I haven’t watched the whole show," he added. "But my mom, who is 86, I think she forgot that I wasn’t on the show this year.”
Once she found out her son is no longer on the show, she had a message for him to deliver to the judges.

“Tell Jennifer Lopez, the new girl, I like her. Give my love to Randy Jackson. And, true story, tell Paula Abdul she looks a bit tired.”
