As the voluptuous star of Modern Family, it's hard to believe that actress Sofia Vergara was once advised to lose weight! She now has famous designers vying to create custom-made gowns for her but before she became famous it was a whole other story.

According to PopEater, before Sofia became a household name she was unable to find anything to wear to black-tie events. On the The Talk she explained, "I could never wear like really fashionable things...I couldnt' even pick a color or a designer."

It was impossible, she says to fit into the size 0 dresses which people typically lend stars to wear at these events. "Somebody told me, 'You have to lose weight,'" she told the hosts. "They might look better in pictures, but I look better naked!"
