Hollywood’s hottest dads including Rob Lowe, Jason Bateman, Clive Owen and John Leguizamo are rolling into theaters this fall with a slew of films.
I caught up with them all recently, and got them to dish on those nearest and dearest to their hearts – their kids!
Rob Lowe, 45
Rob Lowe has seen his share of drama since hitting the big time in the 1980s, but one thing that remains constant is his marriage to wife Sheryl, whom he wed in 1991. The heartthrob dated Melissa Gilbert, Janet Jackson, Jodie Foster, Winona Ryder, Marlee Matlin and Princess Stephanie before settling down, and is now dad to Matt and John. What advice does he give his sons about girls? “My boys?” he asks me during the Invention of Lying premiere. “Oh. That’s an ongoing discussion. That discussion is just beginning. They’re 16 and 14. We’re just in the prelude of that book.”
Jason Bateman, 40
The Invention of Lying/Up In The Air/Couples Retreat star wed Amanda in 2001, and together they’re parents to daughter Francesca, 2. What is she up to these days? “Right now she is probably ripping apart the hotel room,” Jason tells me during an afterparty for Men Who Stare At Goats during the Toronto International Film Festival. Amanda adds, “She’s probably asleep.” Jason says, “Yeah, she’d better be asleep. She’s turning 3 at the end of October, so she’s getting pretty hysterical. I mean funny.” Are more kids in store for the future? “Are you selling?” jesting Jason asks me. “Do you have any cheap ones?” Jokes aside, Jason says his favorite thing about fatherhood is “watching how they change everyday. It’s pretty cool.” Having wife Amanda by his side is a bonus. “You get to spend every day with your best friend. That’s pretty good. Instead of having to call them and arrange for plans, you wake up every day with each other. It’s nice.”

Clive Owen, 46
Clive is the father of two daughters, Hannah and Eve, and has been has been married to Sarah-Jane since 1995. The Boys Are Back In Town actor is the only guy in the group. Of life with two daughters, Clive says, “There’s a lower status in the house, I can definitely tell you that. It means that the girls run the house. I’m just there for them to laugh at, really.”
John Leguizamo, 45
The Gamer actor married Justine in 2003, and together their family includes Allegra, 9, and Ryder, 8. What are the kids up to these days? “My son is playing a lot of basketball,” he tells me during his Rage premiere. “He’s one of the best kids in the Little League he’s got, and my daughter’s horseback riding a lot, swimming, soccer. New York City kids – keep ‘em busy, and you keep them out of trouble.” What is John like as a dad? “Oh gosh, he’s the best dad in the world,” Justine gushes. “They’re so lucky for so many reasons. He’s fun and smart and dedicated. I think he’s the best.”
Here’s a pic of John and I. He’s so great!
