Rumors that Facebook plans to shutdown continue to sweep the Internet, causing widespread concern to the generation of social-networking junkies who frequent the site. The buzz began over the weekend and since the seed was planted, rumors have suggested that the site would close down March 15, leaving FB users to question the fate of the social networking site in their statuses. So has Mark Zuckerberg really decided to end his empire?

Rumors started this weekend after a report by the Weekly World News — now believed to be a complete hoax — claimed the Facebook founder himself had enough with the site.

"Facebook has gotten out of control," Mark allegedly said in a press conference outside FB headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif, "and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an to all the madness."

The faux report went on to explain that starting March 15, users will no longer have access to their FB accounts.

While the powers-to-be at Facebook have not responded to the ridiculous report, it's safe to say the multi-billion dollar site is not ready to close it's doors.

Mark, 26, was recently named TIME magazines man of the year.

At 23, Mark became the world’s youngest billionaire and now Facebook has more than 500 million users.

“The craziest thing to me in all this,” he says, “is that I remember having these conversations with my friends when I was in college. We would just sort of take it as an assumption that the world would get to the state where it is now,” he explained to TIME. “But, we figured, we’re just college kids. Why were we the people who were most qualified to do that? I mean, that’s crazy!”

“I guess what it probably turns out is, other people didn’t care as much as we did.”

The Social Network film triumphed in Hollywood, earning a slew of Golden Globe Awards including Best Picture and is expected to garner the same amount of Oscars.

Mark and his team continue to adapt new applications for the site, which grows larger and becomes more lucrative on a daily basis.

So why would Facebook ever shut down? If the day did come we hope there would be another movie to document it.
