Steven Tyler, American Idol's newest judge chatted with press yesterday while out and about on the streets of Beverly Hills. After a week of emotional cuts and stressful auditions during this past Hollywood Week on the show, Steven is defending his and fellow judges Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson's decisions for the top 24 contestants.

Steven kept it cool in his aviator sunglasses, tie-dyed scarf and blazer while he chatted it up to news cameras. The most surprising cut was definitely Chris Medina, an early favorite with an emotional story.
