Subject of Taylor Swift's Latest Song: John Mayer?
Oct. 19 2010, Published 6:25 a.m. ET
As a songwriter, Taylor Swift uses real-life experiences to craft her chart-topping hits. At this year's VMAs, the country sweetheart performed "Innocent" — written about the humiliating Kanye West incident. She also wrote the apology song "Back to December," rumored to be about her dear "friend" Taylor Lautner. And now, cryptic lyrics point to John Mayer as the topic of her latest song, "Dear John," off of her upcoming album, Speak Now.
Speculation that Taylor and John — known for his big-name Hollywood girlfriends, from Jennifer Aniston to Jessica Simpson — were a couple ran rampant last year, after the duo was spotted at many dinner dates together.

Check out the lyrics, (via PopEater):
"Dear John
I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young
To be messed with
The girl in the dress
Cried the whole way home
I should've known.
It was wrong
Don't you think nineteen's too young
To be played
By your dark, twisted games
When I loved you so.
My mother accused me of losing my mind
But I swore I was fine
You'll add my name to your long list of traitors
Who don't understand
And I'll look back in regret
I ignored what they said
'Run as fast as you can.'"
