Subject of Taylor Swift's Latest Song: John Mayer?

As a songwriter, Taylor Swift uses real-life experiences to craft her chart-topping hits. At this year's VMAs, the country sweetheart performed "Innocent" — written about the humiliating Kanye West incident. She also wrote the apology song "Back to December," rumored to be about her dear "friend" Taylor Lautner. And now, cryptic lyrics point to John Mayer as the topic of her latest song, "Dear John," off of her upcoming album, Speak Now.

Speculation that Taylor and John — known for his big-name Hollywood girlfriends, from Jennifer Aniston to Jessica Simpson — were a couple ran rampant last year, after the duo was spotted at many dinner dates together.

"Dear John" seems to be another clue that the two musicians were in fact together.
