Taylor Lautner's Got New Moon Fever

Now that it's been confirmed that Taylor Lautner will be reprising his role as Jacob Black in New Moon, the sequel to Twilight, the actor is happy to tell OK! just how excited he is!

"I'm just really excited to get back to it really!" the young star tells OK!. "I'm so excited and appreciate all the support from my fans and I think Catherine Hardwicke did an amazing job on Twilight. I'm a fan of Chris Weitz and his work too so I can't wait to work with him as well."

In New Moon, the character of Jacob undergoes a major physical tranformation.

Lautner, who's put on 26 pounds since Twilight, says he's training regularly.

"I was always training no matter what the outcome was," he says, referring to the rumors that he wasn't continuing on to the sequel. "I'm glad I get to grow with the role, it's a great job to have and a great project to work on. I just want to keep pleasing the fans."

And about all that drama — an industry insider tells OK! it wasn't as drastic as it seemed. "Despite what's out there, there was never any drama. It was really blown out of proportion — but it seems like fans enjoy Taylor because it made them pretty upset to think he'd be away from the next chapter!"
