Swifty might get that Oscar, afterall!
Taylor Swift has been tapped to play Joni Mitchell in the Sony Pictures and Di Bonaventura Pictures' adaptation of Sheila Weller's book Girls Like Us.
Girls Like Us tracks the rise of seventies singers, Joni, Carly Simon and Carole King. Variety reports that Taylor hasn't officially signed on and the project has yet to officially be greenlit, but outlook is good that everything will fall into place and the flick will go into production later this year.
Taylor appeared in Valentine's Day and most recently voiced the character "Audrey" in The Lorax. Despite a rather small resume, she told MTV News earlier this year that acting was one of her many passions.
"I love the idea that you can tell a story in that way," she said. "I've been reading scripts for about five years. In my free time, that's all I do is read scripts."
With similiar long, blonde tresses, willowy frames and bohemian aesthetics, we think Taylor would work great as Joni.
