Taylor Swift's biggest regret over the whole Kanye West/VMA speech debacle is simple: The country crooner tells the ladies of The View this morning that she wanted to thank her fans, first and foremost.

Taylor went through where her mind was during those minutes onstage as she tried to accept her award for Best Female Video.

"My overall thought process was, "Wow, I can't believe I won. This is awesome. Don’t trip and I’m gonna thank the fans. This is so cool. Oh Kanye West is here... Cool hair cut! What are you doing there? And then OUCH! And then I guess I’m not going to get to thank the fans."

Last night no The Jay Leno Show, Kanye said he wanted to meet with Taylor and apologize face-to-face. So would she be up for that?

"Sure," replied Taylor. "He has not personally reached out but if he wanted to say hi..."

As for whether or not her feelings were hurt, Taylor says she really focused on getting into the right mindset to perform.

"You know I’m not gonna say I wasn’t rattled," she admits, "but I had to perform five minutes later so I had to get myself back to the place where I could perform."

Taylor's supporters and fans, she says, are how she got herself together to sing.

"There were a lot of people around me backstage around me saying incredible things, just having my back and all the other artists showed me love and all the people tweeting about it and the fans," she reveals. "I never imagined there were that many people looking out for me so it was really wonderful to see people were out there defending me so I didn’t have to."
