'Teen Mom 2' Pulls In Highest Ratings for MTV Franchise

The second round of teen moms prove to deliver bigger than the first. Fans of the hit MTV franchise were re-introduced to Janelle, Kailyn, Chelsea and Leah, the newest group of young women who have agreed to let the network document their trials and triumphs of young motherhood. MTV announced today the ratings for last night's premiere of Teen Mom 2 exceeded the first season and broke network records.

The Teen Mom 2 season premiere averaged 3.6 million viewers, with 3.4 million viewers in the 12-34 age bracket, MTV released in a statement today with sourcing from Nielsen.

These numbers mark a record for the franchise, up 55 percent from the Teen Mom series debut on in Dec. 2009 with 2.2 million viewers in 12-34 bracket and 3 percent from last season's Teen Mom season premiere in July 2010 with 3.3 million viewers in the age range.

For those who tuned into last night's premiere, the new Teen Mom with the most drama is Jenelle, OK!'s cover story this week.

The 19-year-old mom finds herself in quite the predicament, which may have serious consequences. On last night’s episode, tension mounts between Jenelle and her mom Barbara as a custody battle ensues over her son Jace.
