For the first time, Rob walked the red carpet of Oscars in 2009 not because he was nominated, but just because Twilight was that popular.

"It's insane," R-Pattz exclaimed to MTV News on the carpet. "When they first told me about this, I was like, 'No, no, no, no, no, you're joking' — or 'I'm going to have to do something really stupid like get gunged!' "

Instead, Rob presented a montage of romantic films with Amanda Seyfried, which included Twilight.

"I'm so surprised that it worked out the way it did," Rob told MTV News of being a Hollywood heartthrob. "I was thinking the whole time, 'I don't really have the personality to fit into that.' I'm not really afraid of it. I don't even know how to play up that. I don't know if I could ever be cast in a heartthrob role, apart from Twilight, which I didn't know was a heartthrob role."
