Following a tense holiday weekend with reports surfacing of domestic violence between Tiger Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren that landed his Cadillac head first into a tree on Friday morning, the PGA title holder has taken to the internet to speak out regarding the rumors.

Instead of giving a statement to the Florida Highway Patrol, whom E! Online reports was scheduled to address the family for a formal account this afternoon, Woods resorted to his own website to tend to accusations flying regarding his spouse’s violent upset.

“As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I'm pretty sore,” the 33-year-old golfer posted on his homepage.

Despite reports that Nordegren scratched Woods’ face and ran after him with a golf club, the father of two claims on his site that, “This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect… The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me.”

According to E! Online, the couple turned down multiple interview attempts from the police this weekend, while Rachel Uchitel, the woman rumored to have had an affair with Tiger, has resorted to council up to keep herself protected.

E! News confirms that Uchitel has joined forces with infamous celebrity attorney Gloria Allred to keep her name clear as she claims that the entire affair never happened.

And in the meantime Tiger, who took to his website earlier today, publicly asks, “for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be.”
