Nothing like grand Hollywood style, right? Last night at the Larry Crowne premiere, Tom Hanks cruised into the red carpet in the seat of a vespa followed by a pack of 20 other vespa riders, too. As he talked to reporters about concocting this movie idea when he was in junior college, he also revealed utmost respect for co-star Julia Roberts and her "integrity bar." And oh yeah, he also almost killed them both on a vespa ride!

Tom told OK! there was "not a one" incident on a vespa and then added, "The one scene where I’m driving her home, I did almost run into a car when we were going back to number one, and she said, “You almost killed us both!” And I said “Shhhh, I don’t want the director to find out.”

He also mentioned to reporters that "she suffers no fools." The writer/producer/director/actor also added, "She’s got an integrity bar, that if you pass it you should feel good about yourself."

Julia aside, how does Tom manage to wear so many hats during this film? The key is planning for the marathon, not the sprint. "Well I don’t mean to be flip but you start off a long long long long time ago, six years, then about 18 months before we actually started shooting, I thought that I would actually want to direct it.  So you plan for the long haul, you plan out your shots, stay nice and calm if you can, and just shoot as fast as you can."
