John Dye — best known for his role on the hit CBS drama Touched by an Angel, was found dead Monday in his San Francisco home. He was 47.
According to Radar Online, authorities have not yet announced the cause of death; however, the Mississippi native’s family said John died from heart failure.
An autopsy was performed Tuesday, Radar reports, but results will not be released until toxicology tests are in — a three to four weeks process.
John may be best known for his role as the angel of death on Touched by an Angel, but he also starred in the hit series, Murder, She Wrote, Tour of Duty, Campus Man and Best of the Best and Jack’s Place.
Famous friends of the actor — Valerie Bertinelli and Kathy Ireland, Tweeted their condolences.
“Dear, sweet John Dye, rest in peace,” Valerie Tweeted.
Kathy echoed similar sentiments: “My friend, John Dye, of Touched by an Angel passed. I loved John. His smile, kindness, gentle heart & talent. Heartbreaking. Goodbye Angel.”
