TV Hunk Discovered: Ryan Devlin

Big Shots newbie Ryan Devlin totally gets the theme of this section. When asked how his character Zack landed a prestigious internship at Reveal, the cosmetics company owned by Duncan Collinsworth (Dylan McDermott), Ryan fessed up that looks can be everything. Cameron may be in over her head when she learns her new peon has more on his mind than dating the boss’ daughter. (Poor girl! She picks the dreamboat with corporate domination on the brain!). I caught up with Ryan to get the scoop on his new role and his more-than-just-a-pretty-face Halloween costume.
How did Zack wind up at Reveal?
Duncan Collinsworth finally let his daughter Cameron, who’s really buried in her low level job at the family company, hire some help. I play the new intern, probably because I’m just devastatingly attractive, but also possibly because Zack went to Princeton. I come in and start work and as the story moves on, I aim to get more involved with Duncan and aspire to be like him. That puts a little pressure on my relationship with Cameron.
Cameron hired the hottie?
Yep, she kind of has a crush on me, but Zack isn’t all that he seems.
Ever gotten hired for something other than the talent needed for the job?
In college, I did a lot of jobs, from telemarketing to door-to-door fundraising for charities and in my experience, the best BS-er gets the job. I’m a really good BS-er!
I was just talking to Pushing Daisies’ Kristin Chenoweth and she said that her TV crush was the cast of Big Shots. What’s it like working with Dylan, Michael Vartan, Christopher Titus and Josh Malina?

I’m going to interpret that as Ms. Chenowith has a crush on me, if I may. Pushing Daisies is great, and she’s great on it! Most of my scenes are with Dylan, and he’s awesome. He’s such a presence on camera and a total pro. Plus he’s tall, dark and handsome, and however he’s able to do it, gets better looking as time goes by. It was a little intimidating acting opposite him the first time, but now I’m used to it, and we’ve had some laughs on set.
These guys are aces at their companies, but often strike out with the ladies. What’s been your biggest blunder trying to attract someone?
I’m the worst dancer with italics on "the." I’ve learned that’s not my game. I revert back to my job interviewing skills when trying to talk to a girl because I can’t get in done on the dance floor!
Did you dress up for Halloween?
I went as writer Hunter S. Thompson, straight out of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I did Johnny Depp’s take on Hunter S. Thompson from the movie, so I played that guy. It was pretty obscure, but a fun character.
Big Shots airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on ABC.
