TV HUNK (RE) DISCOVERED: KYLE HOWARD

Last night, My Boys finally revealed the identity of mystery man flying to Rome with PJ and her best gal pal Stephanie, and it was none other than one of her best guy pals Bobby. Not a bad choice, if I must say so myself.
If you recall, PJ and the fellow sports writer had an all-too-brief fling that was never fully realized when My Boys first premiered. (And did you how notice PJ always got peeved when Bobby brought a new girl around?)
I had to know how Bobby’s portrayer, Kyle Howard, reacted when he learned it was his booty in that first class seat. So I did what any self-respecting TV Fanatic would do: I rang him up!
PJ wants Brendan back! How did this happen?
It’s always been left very open-ended between them. They’ve had this sort of tension, but so have PJ and Brendan. I think I was always left open for exploration between PJ and Bobby, and her stuff with Brendan too.
Will PJ admit her renewed feelings to Bobby?
It’s definitely addressed, how I was the pick and why I was on the plane. PJ kind of puts it out all on the table for me and it gets interesting with my reaction to that.
Could Bobby and PJ be the new Ross and Rachel?
It’s so funny. Jordana Spiro, PJ and I were rehearsing a scene together where there is all this sort of sexual tension, but neither one of us is saying anything about it. We finished the scene and Jordana said, “And then you call me Rachel and I call you Ross.” It’s totally become that thing, which I love.
Were you surprised when you got the script revealing that it was Bobby was on the plane?
I actually didn’t find out from reading the script. I was out town before our table read, so I hadn’t seen it yet. Reid Scott (Brendan) texted me, “You’re on the plane!”
Did you have any thoughts on who it would be?
We were all clueless. The writers were all clueless for a while too. They literally sat around and pitched reasons why it could be eight different people. It could have been all of the guys. There was a lot of speculation that it would be Thorn, Jeremy Sisto's character, or Travis Schuldt, who was the Cubs player. I was pleasantly surprised that it was me.

You look totally buffed in last night's episode. Have you been working out?
A couple of people asked me that when I came back to work. I’m one of those guys that gets motivated for a few months, and in the last several I’ve been a little more motivated. I moved close to the beach, so I’m a little more active. I surf a lot, and I take bike rides all the time, and I hike. I’m not a gym guy. My only workout throughout the day is push up and sit-ups around my home. It sounds really dorky.
But it worked. In real life, do you have a girlfriend?
I’m not taken. I had a semi-traumatic break up six months ago. We’re still friends and we’re cool. I’m single guy. It’s tough to date when you’re working, but soon enough, I’ll be back on the prowl.
What do you look for in a special someone?
I look for girls who are similar to me. They have some ambition. That’s a really attractive quality that a girl that has her own thing she’s going after and she’s a hard worker. Honesty is huge for me. I can’t ever date a chick that lies. Somebody that likes to be at beach; I couldn’t date a chick who is afraid of sand. I think the perfect girl for me would want to lay on the beach, read and listen to music or go surfing, and then want to go to the movies afterwards.
Memo to PJ: Buy a surfboard and a Netflix account, pronto!
My Boys airs Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. on TBS.
