Breaking Dawn just barely beat previous film Eclipse's midnight opening of $30.1 million, according to Reuters, so it looks like Breaking Dawn is off to a winning start.

The film is expected to earn over $140 million during this, its opening weekend in the U.S. and Canada.
But Breaking Dawn hasn't broken a box office record yet.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 earned $43.5 million during its midnight showings.
