Although Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will be returning in the sequel, New Moon, director Catherine Hardwicke will not be at the helm come shooting time, according to Reuters.

There was apparently a bit of a bumpy relationship between series producer Summit Entertainment and the Thirteen director, who brought the vampire/human love story to the screen in November and earned $139 million in three weeks.

The next movie, set to be released in either late 2009 or early 2010, wasn’t on a schedule that worked with Hardwicke’s required prep time.
