Little monsters came out in full force on Friday morning in the Big Apple to see Lady Gaga perform on the Today show — and by full force we mean an estimated 20,000 fans, who crowded in a humid and rainy Rockefeller Plaza in NYC!
To kick off her performance, Gaga began with the classic Gershwin ballad "Someone to Watch Over Me," wearing all white.
The calm vibe quickly transformed as the superstar threw off her jacket and catapulted into her hit "Bad Romance" with her back-up dancers behind her.
So does fame take a toll on the international sensation?
"There are certainly things that are difficult to deal with," Gaga told the hosts of Today in between performances. "But the kind of fame that I cherish is the relationship I have with my fans."
Lady Gaga continued her Today gig with a new song from her upcoming record, "You and I" — for the performance, the singer sat alone at her piano.
And for the grand finale? Her latest hit, "Alejandro," for which Gaga wore a black version of her first white outfit.
So were the 20,000 fans pleased with their dose of Gaga? Well, sort of.
The thousands of fans from all across the country who waited in line for 24 hours for Lady Gaga’s free concert were promised free pizza from Lady Gaga herself on Twitter.
Inevitably, some fans went hungry because there was not a lot pizza to go around.
But this afternoon, no one will go hungry. Jay Zevi of Pizza Packet will be throwing New York City’s largest Gaga pizza party for the fans who didn't get a slice.
More than 10,000 slices will be distributed to Lady Gaga fan club members and spectators.
A look-alike contest is also being held along with the pizza party today, July 9, at 12 P.M., at Bravo Pizza in Union Square Park at 115 East 14th St. Jay Zevi of Pizza Packet will give the winner two free tickets for Lady Gaga's Madison Square Garden concert tonight!
So put on your best studded leather/unitard/light-up undies and win yourself a free ticket!
