While they promoted their new movie Valentine’s Day together on Good Morning America today, Jennifer and her co-star Jessica Biel said Violet — the daughter of Jennifer and Ben Affleck — doesn’t understand the concept of her maiden name.

Jessica told the story, saying, “She went to school one day and someone said, ‘Oh, you live with Jennifer Garner’ and she goes, ‘No I don’t. I don’t live with her.’ And I think she came home and said, ‘Mommy, who is Jennifer Garner?’ “

Jennifer laughed and chimed in, quoting Violet, “ ‘Why don’t people know that you’re Jennifer Affleck?’ She says that to me all the time. She did have a moment though where she was like, You’re Jennifer Affleck — why do people call you Jennifer Garner?”

Jennifer and Jessica Biel became so close on the set that they were like TV’s comedy duo Laverne and Shirley. Jennifer said of Jessica, “She’s clearly Shirley. I was talking to Valentine’s Day director Gary Marshall and he said, ‘Honey, you have to be Laverne!’ I was going, I am Laverne!” (And Gary should know, as his sister Penny Marshall played Laverne on the classic ‘70s sitcom).

Jennifer joked that she can’t wait to wear a big monogrammed “L” on her shirt. Jennifer and Jessica then sang a few bars of the Laverne and Shirley theme song together on GMA.

“Of course we’re friends!” Jennifer squealed. “It’s so much fun.”

Meanwhile, Jessica talked about her recent hike on Mount Kilimanjaro. “What an experience! That was the hardest physical and mental combination of things I’ve ever done before in my life,” Jessica said. “It was extremely challenging but incredibly rewarding and difficult and wonderful and scary.” Jessica participated in the hike to bring awareness to the global green water crisis.
