Do we smell another Oscar for Jennifer Hudson? The singer turned Oscar-winning actress' return to the big screen will be the portrayal of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela opposite Oscar-nominee Terrence Howard as Nelson Mandela in the highly-anticipated biopic Winnie, making its debut at various film festivals in early 2011.
“I was compelled and moved when I read the script,” Jennifer told Variety when she was first cast to play the former wife of South Africa’s first black president. “Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman and I’m honored to be the actress asked to portray her. This is a powerful part of history that should be told.”
