The cycle of having only female contestants go home was broken last night on American Idol. The sexy Paul McDonald was sent packing. If you were a fan of the Nashville crooner's raspy vocals, blinding smile and signature dance moves, take a look back at his journey on American Idol!

Paul remained very composed last night when Ryan Seacrest announced he would go and Stefano Langone would stay on American Idol. He flashed his pearly whites and sang "Maggie May" one last time for his fans.

Paul had his fair share of critics during his time on Idol. While some didn't dig his "drunk uncle dancing" moves, others like Twilight star Peter Facinelli loved Paul's whole vibe.

Okay, maybe it's because Paul is rumored to be dating Peter's Twilight co-star Nikki Reed, but he still had plenty of loving fans.

And we've always thought Paul looks a little bit like Bradley Cooper and we love him for it. Can you see a resemblance?

Paul, you will be missed but we hope to at least see you soon in a toothpaste commercial!
