Westboro Baptist Church Members to Protest Elizabeth Edwards' Funeral

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church, which is known for anti-homosexual protests at funerals, has announced on Thursday that they will picket Elizabeth Edwards' funeral on Saturday.

According to WGHP-TV, the church announced on their website they plan to protest before the funeral starts at 1 p.m. for 45 minutes.
A specific reason for the protest was not announced.

Elizabeth passed away on Tuesday after battling cancer for six years.
"That was sort of who she was. She was always, always the shoulder to lean on," said family friend John Moylan (via WGHP-TV). "And, even at the end, she remained a very strong person. I think they all took their strength from her."
WGHP-TV reports that a family friend said Wednesday that Elizabeth's funeral will be held on Saturday at Edenton Street United Methodist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Elizabeth's funeral is open to the public and the family is still working on burial plans.
In honor of Elizabeth's son who died in a car crash at 16-years-old, mourners are asked to make a donation to Wade Edwards Foundation.
