What a Week...

I’m baaaack, by popular demand. Well, if popular demand is a relative term. My former colleague Lil’ Miss Ali recently asked me if Simpyjen was ‘going through a writer’s recession’ and I decided enough things are receding, I might as well keep this going – although I realize I have to build up some credit of writing regularly to keep you coming back.
That said, I haven’t not been writing for lack of adventures to write about. Last week I went to the Peter Alexander store opening in Beverly Hills and Mandy Moore told me we haven’t seen her doing much lately (other than hanging out with DJ AM), because she’s ‘figuring it out.’ But, what she does know for sure is that she’ll be eating bacon and eggs for dinner on Christmas Eve – a tradition she told me was started by her parents when they got married and it was all they had in the house on their first Christmas Eve together.
I went to the opening of the Burberry store, also in Beverly Hills, and saw divorcees Liv Tyler and Kate Hudson palling around and swilling champagne at the event (where Ryan Gosling was DJing!) before all heading for a nightcap at Bardot – where Ryan also DJed – and where I learned that the buzzed about Rachel McAdams look-alike talking to Ryan was actually Rachel’s younger sister! In the bathroom I heard Mischa Barton say she’s moving back to Paris in a couple of weeks – in the meantime she’s been out on the town ‘boozing it up,’ according to several accounts, accounting for every night of the week.

There was no rest for the weary over the weekend when I went to a masquerade party Friday at the home of one of the producers of Iron Man and the Breeder’s Cup Saturday where I placed a bet in the window next to where Pierce Brosnan was betting. He’s really got ‘it.’ He just effortlessly emanates movie star. Mary Kate Olsen was up in a suite hanging out with Mel Brooks. Don’t ask, I don’t know the method to the madness of that one either. She likes older men, she kissed Ghandi in her last film. That night I went to the Vh1 Save the Music party at Esquire’s $12.5 Hollywood Hills mansion. Ammazing.
Now, after two terrific nights of catching up on tivo I’m getting ready to go to my first of two Blackberry parties for the week. Tonight it’s a party for the Blackberry Storm and the Foo Fighters are playing at the party! I’m told there will also be some super secret guests. I’ll unveil the secret at next post and will keep you posted, prior to going to the Blackberry Bold party tomorrow. Promise ;) xo
