What you didn't see at the emmy's...

I’ve covered hundreds of high profile events, fashion shows, awards shows, premieres of TV shows…But since I’ve lived in NYC until recently, I generally miss most of awards season. The Emmy’s were a marathon introduction.

After hitting just a couple of swag suites (the Patrick Melville Emmy Beauty Villa at the Sunset Marquis for a blowout and acupuncture facial) I went to the NBC pre-party at Spago  (Saw Christian Slater who I’m so happy is finally on TV and I can listen to his voice weekly) and then hung out in the On3 Productions Presenters Gift Lounge  hosted by Emmy producers AEG Ehrlich Ventures – and in the same corridor as the presenters and hosts dressing rooms!) during the show.

Unfortunately I wasn’t in the lounge the previous day when my colleague Wynter Mitchell had the chance to talk to Oprah Winfrey – who came to her first gifting suite ever to support the charity (Bertolli was donating $50K to charities in return for stars signing their Bertolli Oven Baked Meals pots). After signing Oprah didn’t leave without swag. She loves the trujeans where you can log on and custom-order tailor-made jeans!

I also missed talking to Jeff Probst despite my best efforts running into the hallway to get his attention each time he walked from his dressing room to the stage, but…I was an interesting experience. Here’s a timeline rundown from the lounge of the stuff that didn’t fit to print in the magazine today.

5:03 : Oprah is seen escorted from her dressing room (right across from lounge entrance) to stage by Ryan Seacrest. She waves in the lounge and says, ‘Hey yall.’

5:06 Oprah opens show.

5:15 True to what she told OK! when she came to the lounge the previous day “Expect me to do my part, and be home in my pajamas before the commercial break,” Oprah leaves her dressing room in a black pantsuit and exits the building, not long after she arrived and only 12 minutes into the show!

6:35 Alec Balwin walks in lounge thinking it’s the green room. He’s convinced to stay with the offer of a shot espresso from Nespresso. He says, 'I like it strong' and add that his girlfriend “is an espresso addict.” When asked his favorite part of the night he says, ‘Tina Fey winning the Emmy! That means I’ll have a job for at least a little bit longer.” That was a few minutes before he won his own Emmy.

7:10 Kevin Dillon walks in with wife. He says, “This is a great way to break up an award show.” She gets size 24 jeans from TruJeans, because they don’t have a size 23.

7:18: Jeff Probst walks in, grabs a mini burger and takes it to his dressing room down the hall.

7:28: Alec Baldwin wins Emmy

7:36 Nicolette Sheridan storms in the lounge, obviously tipsy, and says 'You all need to lighten up back here and have a good time.'

7:45. I talk to Felicity Huffman. She looks amazing, as always. She tells me she cut her hair off two days ago and not for the show – she says she’s actually scared to tell the show because they don’t know yet! When asked if it’s having to tell the show prior to every trim she said, ‘No, because they own my look.’

The highlight of her night she said, “Hanging out in the green room with Sarah Paulson and Nicolette. We were all hanging out and had so much fun.”

7:50: Marcia Cross when she walked in with her hubby who takes a seat on the couch while Marcia hangs with the girls and ‘shops.’ Felicity runs over to Marcia and says, “We've been hanging out in the green room drinking. We had a bottle of vodka and went through the whole thing, really. Where’ve you been?'

7:52 Nicolette feeds Marcia gummy bear candy from the AMC concession while they pick out diamonds from from D’Annunzio Fine Jewelry. The girls modeled jewelry for each other and each ended up taking off the earrings they walked in with and walked out dripping in new diamond earrings.

7:55 Marcia Cross’s husband sits on the couch like a dutiful husband. He told OK! 'I’m really glad this couch is here!” He said, “I'm having so much fun here and being out tonight! I wanted to cut out early to head to Governors Ball, but besides that.” He said after the Governors Ball they’d be hitting the HBO party and said, “We’ll be out late tonight.”

8pm Marcia Cross tells OK! the best part of her night is “Just being out with my husband.” She adds, “We have two small children so it's nice to be out together for a night. It sounds so silly, but that's it.” I tell her that her husband is looking forward to a fun night party hopping and she says, “He's looking forward to eating.”

8:15 Hayden Panattiere gives Christina Applegate a hug and tells her she loves her show and squeezes her arm as Christina signs a  dish from Bertolli Oven Bake Meals that will be auctioned for charity. Bertolli donated $50,000 to charity in exchange for the stars stopping by!

8;19 Olivia Wilde comes into the lounge to sign the Bertolli dish for charity but then says 'I have to eat because I haven't eaten since this morning. I have enough stuff, I only came in to sign this for charity.'

8:43: Nicolette makes sure she has her cell phone (her old one, her new Palm Centro is n her bag) and driver’s number before throwing (literally) a last pair of (new Michael Kors) sunglasses in the swag bag being carried to her limo.

And with the departure of the Desperate Housewives, the undisputed life of the party, I head off to TV Guides Sixth Annual Post-Emmy party where I see Kira Sedgewick adorably draping herself over Kevin Bacon’s shoulder, LC indulge in some crackers and The Bravery and MGMT perform.
