Cutie patootie Diana DeGarmo narrowly missed out on American Idol glory in the third season, coming up just 2 percent short behind champ Fantasia. But the spunky Alabama native has didn't let that get her down.
After scoring a No. 1 single with her hit "Dreams" and seeing moderate success with her debut album, Blue Skies, Diana took a brief hiatus from the recording studio to take on the Great White Way. The singer earned raves for her Broadway debut as Hairspray's Penny Pingleton (Amanda Bynes' role in the film) in February 2006, which led to another starring role in Brooklyn: The Musical.

Since wrapping up her Broadway stints, the 20-year-old has returned to the studio to work on a sophomore album and has also made a foray into reality TV. She can currently be seen on CMT's Gone Country, in which she competes against fellow celebrities, such as Bobby Brown and Carnie Wilson, to become a country star. Will she follow in Carrie Underwood's esteemed footsteps?
