Darkness surrounded the palatial estate.

Houston built the 12,561- square-foot mansion in 1987.

It was at this five-bedroom, four-bathroom home that she declared her love for R&B bad boy Bobby Brown before 800 guests at their July 18, 1992 wedding.

And their only daughter, Bobbi Kristina, was raised beneath the soaring ceilings.

But her happiness turned into despair.

Whitney admitted in interviews that she and Bobby binged on drugs and fought viciously within her dream home's circular walls.

Still, the diva could never quite bring herself to part with the house which is situated on more than five acres.

In 2006, it fell into foreclosure, but she refused to let it go.

Houston put it on the market in 2009, but never inked a deal to say goodbye before her death. It was purchased by an emergency room physician in 2015 for $1.5 million.
