Kermit the frog is getting a new voice after his longtime puppet master Steve Whitmire was fired!
In an emotional statement, the veteran puppeteer revealed that he's "devastated" about being let go, USA Today reports.
"For me the Muppets are not just a job, or a career, or even a passion. They are a calling, an urgent, undeniable, impossible to resist way of life," he wrote in a blog post. "This is my life's work since I was 19 years old. I feel that I am at the top of my game, and I want all of you who love the Muppets to know that I would never consider abandoning Kermit."

A rep for Sesame Street spoke to OK! about the firing, explaining that they had no part in Disney's decision to let Steve go. While Kermit once lived on Sesame Street with Big Bird and Grover, he is now a part of the Disney family, along with his Muppet Show friends, Miss Piggy and Fozzie.
