The 27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, honoring the best achievements in film and television performances for the year 2020, were presented on Sunday, April 4, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The ceremony was broadcast live on both TNT and TBS, airing for one hour rather than the usual two.

The shortened one-hour show was pre-recorded. The winners were informed of their wins a few days before the telecast, and the acceptance speeches were also pre-taped. These changes were a COVID-era decision in order to protect the guild's nominees and presenters.

The evening's big award, Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture, went to the actors in The Trial of the Chicago 7. Subsequently, Michael Keaton made history by becoming the first person in SAG history to win three awards for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. In 2015 and 2016, he was part of the winning ensemble for Birdman (2014) and Spotlight (2015), respectively.

The late Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis were both honored for their lead performances in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. David Kaluuya in Judas and The Last Messiah and Youn Yuh-jung in Minari took home awards in supporting actor categories.

In the television categories, winners included the casts of The Crown and Schitt's Creek, as well as Mark Ruffalo in I Know This Much Is True, Anya Taylor-Joy in The Queen's Gambit, Gillian Anderson in The Crown, Jason Bateman in Ozark, Jason Sudeikis in Ted Lasso and Catherine O'Hara in Schitt's Creek

Although there was no red carpet, Hollywood's hottest stars wouldn't dare miss a fashion opportunity and brought their glam straight to the 'gram.
