Ariana Grande Emotionally Ends U.K. Tour as She Takes a Break From Public Life: 'It's Been So Special'

Ariana Grande was in her feelings on the last night of her Eternal Sunshine Tour.

The "petal" singer left the audience at London's O2 Arena earlier this week with a heartfelt message, as she fought back tears. The end of her tour also marks the star's planned retreat from public life.

Grande took a moment to show gratitude to her fans while on stage.

"I just want to say thank you so much," she said (via Variety). "This has been such an extraordinary experience. Thank you for 10 beautiful London shows and for 41 incredible Eternal Sunshine tour shows."

The Wicked star struggled to hold back tears as she delivered her sweet words.

"This has been one of the most beautiful, extraordinary experiences of my life, and I just want to express my gratitude without sobbing completely," she joked. "But really, thank you from the bottom of my heart, it’s been so special, and I’ll cherish this experience always, and I have the best fans in the entire world, and I always have. And I love your outfits, I love your faces, I love seeing you, I love connecting with you in this way."

She added, "Thank you for all of your effort for making this so special. All your messages and your costumes and your wardrobe and makeup is just so beautiful. I have loved every minute of this with you all, and I just want to make sure I express how grateful I am. Thank you, and I love you so much."

As Grande's tour — which ran between June and September — comes to a close, the multi-hyphenate artist will be retreating from public life for a while.

In August, a rep for the star announced the move, which came out of increasing "public scrutiny" of Grande's body.

"Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour," the rep told People. "She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny. This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much."

Grande's love life has been the subject of headlines for years. Most recently, the artist rekindled with her ex Ricky Alvarez, whom she name-checked in "thank u, next." During the final London show, when she performed the track, she sang, "Wrote some songs about Ricky / I’m tryna make him my last" (via Metro). The original lyrics are, "Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh."

The singer was previously in a three-year relationship with her Wicked costar Ethan Slater. The romance came with much controversy, since the timeline of Slater's separation from his wife and mother of his child was very fast.

Before that, Grande was married to Dalton Gomez between 2021 and 2024 (they filed for divorce in 2023). She has also been linked to Pete Davidson, Big Sean and the late Mac Miller, among others.
