New York City has never been shy about making some noise — but the newest reason to warm up your vocal cords takes the city's karaoke game to a whole new pitch.
OK! snagged an exclusive first peek inside Beatbox, the brand-new, design-driven karaoke bar that just opened up in the West Village and is already hitting all the right notes.

Beatbox’s proprietary karaoke platform features three distinct modes of play: On Key, Don’t Forget the Lyrics and Freestyle.
Located on the corner of 8th Avenue and 14th Street in New York City’s trendy West Village, Beatbox couldn’t have chosen a better place to debut. As the neighborhood’s only karaoke bar, its prime location makes it a perfect new addition to downtown’s buzzy bar-hopping circuit.
Founded by Stanford Business School besties Lannie Rosenfield and Sara Goodison, Beatbox draws on the duo’s shared background in brand, innovation and entertainment to deliver a nightlife concept that’s both tech-savvy and stylish.
Forget the sticky floors and off-key strangers you've probably come to expect from karaoke bar visits in the past —Beatbox blends luxury lounge vibes, next-level design, and a proprietary karaoke platform that makes for an A -list experience.
“Music is the ultimate connector,” Sara Goodison tells OK!. “With Beatbox, we wanted to reimagine karaoke through the lens of interactivity.”
And that’s exactly what they’ve done. Their custom system offers three modes: On Key, which scores your pitch and performance; Don’t Forget the Lyrics, an AI-powered lyric recall challenge; and Freestyle, for those who just want to belt without judgment.
The experience unfolds in three private suites that double as intimate performance stages, complete with LED backdrops, a small stage theatrical lighting, and studio-quality effects like chorus, vibrato and even autotune so even first-time singers can sound perfectly on key.

Founded by Stanford Business School alumni and best friends Lannie Rosenfield and Sara Goodison, the New York City venue features three private karaoke suites and a full-service lounge.

Before you hit the mic, you can ease into the action in the cozy full-service lounge, designed by Zachary Pulman Design Studio to channel the look and feel of a vintage recording studio.
The jewel-toned furnishings, concert photography, and vinyl touches make the space feel both nostalgic and fresh. The Lounge has a very cool and chic vibe that works as a great place to grab some cocktails and relax with friends, even if you don't end up booking a private karaoke suite.
And while you might not expect the food at a karaoke bar to be more than an afterthought, OK! was pleasantly surprised to discover Beatbox’s menu is seriously good. Created with Gadi Peleg of Breads Bakery fame, the offerings go far beyond typical bar snacks.
We couldn’t get enough of the massive Sheet Pan nacho platter — a crowd-pleasing favorite that keeps everyone fueled between songs — along with fun, shareable bites like pretzel nuggets and pigs in a blanket.
Even better? The cocktails are top notch and give a creative spin on some classics. Gone are the sad vodka sodas of karaoke nights past — here, drinks like the Rockstar Martini, Dirty Chai, and Pandan Sour make the whole experience feel more like a night out at a chic downtown cocktail bar than a sing-along session at a basement dive bar.
“We wanted to create an environment where first-time singers feel supported while frequent guests continue to discover new ways to make the experience their own,” says Goodison — and from what we saw, they nailed it.
Bottom line? Beatbox is the karaoke bar glow-up New York’s been waiting for — and the West Village just got a whole lot louder - in the best way possible.
