When you first think of Greece, your mind probably conjures up images from Homeric myths or the grand Acropolis. While this mighty nation certainly has a legendary history, that doesn’t mean Greeks don’t know how to have a good time. Indeed, if you’ve ever traveled to Greece before, you’re probably familiar with the nation’s favorite liquor: ouzo.

Anyone who loves licorice snacks will love experimenting with this traditional Greek spirit. Add in some lemonade, mint, and, of course, Tribe CBD oil, and you’ve got the makings of a sublime summertime spritzer!

Surprisingly, ouzo has a famous reputation with the global scientific community. However, most researchers are more interested in examining ouzo than drinking it.

You see, when you mix clear ouzo with water, it instantly takes on a cloudy appearance. Believe it or not, this well-known phenomenon is called the “ouzo effect.” Apparently, the anise essential oil that gives ouzo its flavor isn’t soluble in water. In fact, recent studies out of the University of Twente found that ouzo particles go through four chemical transformations within less than 15 minutes.

While you could see the “ouzo effect” in other anise-infused beverages, it’s most prominent in ouzo due to its naturally clear color. So, please don’t feel scared if you notice your CBD ouzo spritzer turning cloudy as you add seltzer water!

On the subject of ouzo’s reaction to water, it’s worth mentioning that all hemp cannabinoids are hydrophilic. This means CBD is not water-soluble. The only way you could get CBD into your system is to pair it with a carrier oil.

At Tribe CBD, we’ve chosen to use coconut-derived MCT oil in our high-quality CBD tincture. While other oils have unique traits, we feel MCT oil offers the most additional benefits to our customers. Not only does MCT oil help with CBD absorbability, it may have fat-burning and energizing effects. Anyone familiar with the keto diet should already know all about the pros of MCT shots!
