French Fashion Designer Thierry Mugler Dead At 73 — Beyoncé, Kourtney Kardashian & More Pay Tribute
Designer Thierry Mugler has died at the age of 73.
The sad news was announced on Sunday, January 23, via his personal Instagram account. The account simply posted a picture of a black square with the caption: "RIP We are devastated to announce the passing of Mr Manfred Thierry Mugler on Sunday January 23rd 2022. May his soul Rest In Peace."
The Mugler fashion brand also confirmed his passing. "It is with deep sadness that the House of Mugler announces the passing of Mr Manfred Thierry Mugler. A visionary whose imagination as a couturier, perfumer and image-maker empowered people around the world to be bolder and dream bigger every day," they shared on Instagram.
Mugler's cause of death has not yet been revealed.
The French artist, born Manfred Thierry Mugler, began his fashion career in the 1970s. He launched his first fashion collection, Café de Paris, in 1973.

Although he retired from the fashion industry in the early 2000s, he continued to work in some capacity. He designed Kim Kardashian's iconic wet look at the 2019 Met Gala and worked as the artistic director of Beyoncé's 2009 world tour, HuffPost reported.
Mugler also reportedly worked with A-listers such as David Bowie, George Michael, Lady Gaga, Madonna and more throughout his career.
Beyond fashion, Mugler was a prominent figure in the fragrance industry, with his debut perfume, Angel, remaining popular decades after its initial release in 1992.
Since news of his sudden passing made headlines, celebs and fans took to social media to post tributes to the late artist.
"Deepest condolences 💔 A true visionary. Thank you for your art Manfred," Kylie Minogue wrote under the announcement post on Mugler's personal account. "💔💔💔💔," Tracee Ellis Ross commented on the same post. Meanwhile, Beyoncé added a black and white photo of Mugler to the homepage of her website. "Rest In Peace," a banner read.
Kourtney Kardashian shared a photo with her sisters and mom Kris Jenner on her Instagram Story, captioning the post: "All in Mugler 💔." Diana Ross posted a photo of herself with Mugler on Twitter. "I will miss you Thierry Mugler this was a wonderful time in our lives," she wrote.
