2021 Golden Globe Awards Show Starts With Technical Difficulties, Chadwick Boseman Wins — The Complete List Of Winners
Feb. 28 2021, Updated 11:02 p.m. ET
Daniel Kaluuya took home the first award at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards for his performance in Judas and the Black Messiah; however, his acceptance speech was delayed when the show began with technical difficulties.
Though he was eventually able to give an acceptance speech, upon the announcement that he took home the award, the "connection" was poor, and his voice was not heard on the awards show.
Not soon after, during Catherine O’Hara's acceptance speech, the award-winning actress spoke over music (in what appeared to be a joke to the traditional playoff), but her words were barely audible.
Even with a pandemic, the annual Golden Globe Awards still go on to honor the best in television and film from 2020, a year in which entertainment seemed to be needed most.
Hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the Globes take place on Sunday, February 28, and air live on NBC at 8 p.m. ET. Fey hosts from Rockefeller Center's Rainbow Room in New York while Poehler is at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The late Chadwick Boseman was awarded for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Three women are up for Best Director; Regina King, Chloé Zhao and Emerald Fennell out of the five nominees; Zhao took home the honor.
