If 2016 was the year of millennial pink, the soft, rose-quartz hue that overtook every corner of aesthetic life from fashion to jewelry and even interior design, it seems bright pink is that for 2022.
Dubbed "the color trend to rule 2022" by Harper’s Bazaar last month, hot pink is having a moment, appearing everywhere from the Grammys and Oscars red carpet, sported by celebrities like Justin Bieber and Bridgerton's Simone Ashley, to the spring/summer 2022 collections of designers such as Et Ochs, Versace and Dior.
The hue is so hot that Valentino even paired with Pantone to develop a signature color named "Valentino Pink PP." The shade first hit the runway during Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, a move The Yes' Creative & Fashion Director Taylor Tomasi described as "a flash of genius" playing into a broader rose-tinted movement.
"'Valentino Pink PP' might be the most recognizable shade, but pinks in general are seeing a resurgence," she told Harper’s Bazaar, noting these bright hues are "so much more interesting than the same-old millennial pink."
From splashes of shocking pink to full monochrome magenta moments, here are three ways to partake in the pink parade.
- Monochrome Moments
- Pops of Pink
- Bold Blazers
Monochrome Moments
Modeled by stars like Saweetie and Billy Porter at the Grammy Awards earlier this month, this trend’s most popular iteration seemingly comes in the form of full monochrome moments. While you can never go wrong with a pink crop top and high-waisted skirt on a night out, try pairing a bright sports bra and matching biker shorts with a bold henley for a sportier take on this look.

Pops of Pink
If the idea of piling on pink prompts panic, don’t worry – tapping the bold hue as an accent color is a great way to hop on this trend without sporting head-to-toe fuchsia.
For the perfect pop of pink, try adding a bright sandal or handbag to a dark, neutral outfit. This subtle take on the trending color is still celeb-approved – over the past several weeks, stars like Bieber and Miranda Lambert have brightened their red-carpet looks with accessories in the hot hue.

Beyond a bold accessory for a night out, this bright hue can also find a home in your professional wardrobe.
