After a bit of a bumpy start, Camila Mendes has turned her Silver Lake abode into one sweet starter home!
The Riverdale star, 27, purchased the $1.9 million property in May 2020, when the country was still in the midst of a pandemic. “I finally have a home in L.A. I couldn’t say that for the longest time, but now I actually do,” shared the actress on Live with Kelly and Ryan shortly after moving in, though she admitted setting it up was going to be quite the operation.
“Up until now, I’ve been pretty much living in furnished rentals,” Mendes explained, noting that since she didn’t own any furniture, she’s been stuck in an empty house. “Everything is delayed. It’s impossible,” she lamented. “I’m having to ask people, like, ‘have you used this couch? Is it comfortable?’”
Luckily, she was able to turn to some interior design experts to help with the decorating process — “I’ve never talked about curtains so much in my life,” joked Mendes — and has clearly made progress over the last 20 months.
Built in 1924, the 2,005-square-foot house has undergone multiple renovations over the years and now boasts an open-concept floor plan and plenty of modern amenities. So far, the actress has stayed true to the pad’s stylish yet simple vibe, outfitting the rooms with neutral furnishings and cute accents. (The star’s said she gravitates toward “a midcentury modern meets rustic look.”)
With three bedrooms and four bathrooms, the dwelling offers more than enough space for Mendes and her canine companion, Truffle, whom she adopted in 2019. While there’s no swimming pool, both residents can still make great use of the outdoor area, which includes a ground-level patio set up for alfresco dining, a cactus garden with a metal swing and a grassy lawn that leads to a shed.
Given that Mendes (a Brazilian who grew up in Florida) spends a good chunk of her year shooting Riverdale in rainy, chilly Vancouver, we’re guessing she’s only too happy to enjoy the California sunshine when she’s at home!
