Jimmy Kimmel is once again stepping off the late-night stage and into the political spotlight — this time with his family in tow.

The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host was spotted at a “No Kings” protest in Torrance, California, holding a sign that read “Enough Already” alongside an image of President Donald Trump wearing a crown. Photos shared on Instagram showed Kimmel attending with two of his children and his father, who carried a sign reading “Deport ICE.”

Kimmel’s appearance stood out not just because of his celebrity status, but because he brought multiple generations of his family to the rally.

His children were photographed holding their own protest signs, while his father wore a “Barack Obama” hat and joined in the demonstration. The moment quickly circulated online, adding to the broader visibility of the “No Kings” movement, which has gained traction during Trump’s second term.

Kimmel has attended similar protests before, including anti-ICE demonstrations and earlier “No Kings” rallies, often blending activism with the same political commentary that defines his nightly monologues.

“There is nothing more American than a political protest. The American Revolution was a ‘No Kings’ protest,” Kimmel said during a previous show, defending the demonstrations.

The appearance also drew political attention. Sen. Chris Murphy, a Democrat from Connecticut, shared a photo with Kimmel at the rally on X, writing, “Look who I ran into at the No Kings rally in Torrance, California.”

Murphy’s presence sparked its own wave of reactions, with critics questioning why he was attending a protest thousands of miles from his home state. Social media users mocked the optics, while supporters praised the visibility of the event.

Critics Question Celebrity Influence

Critics quickly debated celebrity influence in political protests.

Not everyone sees Kimmel’s activism as a positive force. Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman argued that celebrity participation can blur the message of a protest.

“Jimmy Kimmel should turn his ‘Enough Already’ sign towards himself because continuing to show up at ’No Kings’ and ICE rallies with his family reveals embarrassing desperation to stay relevant and keep his show on the air,” Lieberman said.

She added that while celebrity involvement can draw attention, it may also undercut the seriousness of the cause.

“Since Kimmel is a late-night host who has profited from his unending jokes at Trump’s expense, it takes away from any serious message the protest was hoping for — and makes it into a family-friendly joke,” she said.
