Julia Louis-Dreyfus described her experience on 'Seinfeld' as 'just being friends together and just hanging out.'

Louis-Dreyfus described her experience on set as “just being friends together and just hanging out” to co-hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco.

She clarified, “That sounds as if it was just hanging out. It was a lot of work to make the show.”

“What I mean was we were all, like, kids. And we had our own idea and [the writers] had their own idea of exactly what they wanted to do, which was not the norm at the time in terms of structured television,” she continued.

“So I think there was an air of freedom because of that,” Louis-Dreyfus said. “We had a lot of fun making it.”

In May, during an appearance on the "Awards Chatter" podcast, per The Hollywood Reporter, Louis-Dreyfus detailed a "big fat argument on set."

“Jerry and Elaine sleep together in that episode, and they sort of make a deal about it,” she recalled, saying David, 79, and executives from Castle Rock Entertainment disagreed on “whether or not to turn this into a will they, won’t they?”

She added, “Larry was livid. He did not want anything to do with the idea of romance, the cute, the s---.”

Ultimately, David got his way, as Elaine and Jerry stayed good friends throughout the show.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus said her character Elaine was initially 'not in the pilot' and the show almost didn’t go to air.

Meanwhile, Louis-Dreyfus' time on Seinfeld wasn't easy at first, either, as her character, Elaine, “was not in the pilot,” and the show almost didn’t go to air.

“NBC didn’t want to do the show, but then a guy named Rick Ludwin, who ran special programming at NBC, decided to somehow keep this show afloat and put the late-night programming budget into these four episodes,” she recounted.

“G-- love Rick Ludwin, he’s passed away, but he was an incredibly wonderful guy, and we really have him to thank,” she continued.
