Later, Los Angeles! Dancing With the Stars alum Julianne Hough has relocated to New York City ahead of her Broadway debut, leaving her longtime Hollywood Hills home available as a fully furnished rental for $40,000 a month.
The 33-year-old Safe Haven actress, who finalized her divorce from ex-hockey pro Brooks Laich in February, seemed ready for a change of scenery, having bunked in the 3,000-square-foot spread since she purchased it for $2 million in 2014.
Hough worked with architect Steve Wunderlich and interior designer Jake Arnold to make the space her own. "I'm always on the go, and I travel a lot," the pro dancer told Better Homes and Gardens in 2016. "So to balance it all, I’ve created a safe, special place where I feel like my true self.”
She outfitted the three-bedroom, four-bathroom abode with comfortable furniture, vintage rugs and nature-inspired pieces made from reclaimed wood. “Rather than buying on-trend, Jake and I were both attracted to things that felt timeless,” she explained. “I like it when you can’t tell an object’s age, when you don’t know whether it's brand new or a century old."
Hough stuck to neutral, earthy tones throughout most of the house, but decided to go for something bolder in the kitchen, painting her cabinets a custom mix of baby blue and green.
The estate's backyard is especially charming with a lush garden, tree-shielded terrace and a heated pergola, so the country singer can enjoy the outdoors all year round. “I think differently when I’m looking at nature,” noted Hough. “A clarity comes when I sit there and breathe in the light and the colors.”
