Kate Middleton's Deep Sorrow: Sick Future Queen Lets Her Emotions Loose as She Misses Trooping the Colour Rehearsals
Catherine, Princess of Wales, has apologized to the Irish Guards in a letter sent from Kensington Palace.
"I wanted to write and let you know how proud I am of the entire Regiment ahead of the Colonel’s review and Trooping of the [Color]," Her Royal Highness shared. "I appreciate everyone trooping this year has been practicing for months and dedicating many hours to ensuring their uniforms and drill are immaculate."
"Being your colonel remains a great honor, and I am very sorry that I’m unable take the salute at this year’s Colonel’s review," the future queen added. "Please pass my apologies to the whole Regiment, however, I do hope that I am able to represent you all once again very soon."
She concluded: "Please send my very best wishes and good luck to all involved."
The Princess of Wales was created Colonel of the Regiment of the Irish Guards by King Charles III in December 2022. She will be replaced this year in the traditional inspection of the selected Trooping the Colour regiment by Lieutenant General James Bucknall, KCB, CBE.
The British Army described this year's Trooping the Colour on their official website as: "... Weeks of grueling rehearsal and painstaking preparation, two hundred and fifty musicians, twenty pipers, two hundred and forty military working horses, an extremely large dog, and almost a thousand dual role soldiers of the British Army’s Household Division will deliver a magnificent spectacle for The King, the Nation, and the World in London on Saturday 15 June."
The description further stated: "During the parade, the King’s Colour (Regimental flag) is “Trooped”, that is: carried aloft by one of the Regiment’s most junior Officers through the ranks of soldiers. This year the responsibility falls to Lieutenant Harry Winterbottom of the Irish Guards."
On X, the Irish Guards replied to their Colonel by stating: "We continue to wish Her Royal Highness well in her recovery and send Her our very best wishes."

The next Queen Consort of Britain underwent a "serious" abdominal surgery on January 16, which led to traces of cancer cells being found allegedly near the area of the procedure. Her Royal Highness has been receiving treatment in the wake of the discovery, which she revealed in an "emotional" video via BBC Studios on March 22.
New reports suggest the Princess of Wales "may never come back" in the role we saw her in for the past 13 years. Kate has not been seen nor participated in any royal appearance or event since Christmas Day 2023.
